Abstract
This poster session introduces the Faculty 101 Resource Kit, a primer created to provide guidelines and strategies for those involved in implementing and evaluating faculty-based transition initiatives for first year undergraduate students. The poster describes both the process of developing the kit and displays the contents of the kit itself. The Kit contains both paper and electronic masters of templates so that faculties and departments can reproduce and adapt the resources to their particular situations. An electronic version of the Kit will be available through the web.
This Resource Kit - a joint publication of the Transition Program and the Centre for the Study of Higher Education - is concerned with improving the quality of the undergraduate student experience through the development and ongoing evaluation of first year transition initiatives across faculties. It is designed as a resource for faculties and departments who wish to undertake a ‘Faculty 101’ style program for assisting their first year students to adjust to university life. Typically, Faculty 101 is a non-credit program comprising some general information sessions and weekly study group meetings.
